It's been four years since we last saw Daniil Kazantsev, the man who kicked off the relaunch of earthMANTRA back in 2014 with his Algol release "Goldilocks Zone". Since then he's appeared here in his Black Wanderer guise with the deep-space epic "67P" and has released numerous other works both on other labels and through his own page here on Bandcamp. I'm excited today to welcome his latest project, Cloudy Horizon to the earthMANTRA family.

Far from the brooding drones of the Black Wanderer project, this new guise settles firmly in the realm of pastoral ambient. "Fyfield Down", the debut release for the project on our label, is a 30-minute sound painting of the site of an ancient settlement near Marlborough in England. It's a place Daniil spends a great deal of time, and this EP is his attempt to capture the spirit that dwells there.

In his own words, this album is "a springtime ambient soundtrack from the lush green fields of England in the presence of Sarsen stones."

It's also beguilingly beautiful.

As with all eM releases, Fyfield Down is free to download. Should you wish to buy it, all proceeds from the sale will go directly to the artist.
