There's a profound sense of rightness in my little world right now. Working to bring eM back to life has been both a chore and a joy, and throughout the process there have been incredibly rewarding moments that have made all the hard work worthwhile. The first release, the first download, the first 100 downloads. Bringing Altus back to eM, and releasing Excursion Three. These and so many others have been wonderful, pristine moments that I am truly grateful for.
But this takes the proverbial cake. eM is overjoyed to present Palancar's "Counting Raindrops", the first release by Earth Mantra founder and prolific recording artist Darrell Burgan on eM. Darrell had this to say about the album itself.
"The general theme of the music is the sense of reminiscent reflection one has sitting quietly while it begins to rain. Maybe by a pond as rain drops start to make patterns across the surface of the water. Maybe sitting in the front porch rocker just listening to the rain fall all around. Maybe lying in bed with someone you love with the window open, holding hands listening to the rain. This reflection can sometimes be happy reminiscence, or melancholy reflections on past mistakes, or embracing one’s fears, or acknowledging one’s age across the vast array of memories, or even just simple clear-minded oneness with the rain falling around you. Anyway this sort of inner reflection while it rains is what I refer to as 'counting raindrops', each raindrop a memory to be counted and reflected upon."
On "Counting Raindrops", Darrell has crafted a beautiful and haunting series of vignettes, complex scenes described lovingly with sound. I am incredibly grateful and truly honored to be able to release this album on earthMANTRA, and welcome Palancar home...to the house that he built.
